Just watched again a few sequels of the "Viking" series and just the siege of Paris.
Therefore i thought this would be a good supplement to my "medieval" units/project and played around a little bit on Tinkercad again. This is the theoretical result.
Live prints are on the way from Dioramawelt (in SLA again), to see if those ideas are printable. If i got them (and painted), i can upload the files.
Maybe Bernd from Dioramawelt can say more to the templates (if they are printable in FDM and/or SLA) earlier here

sails and masts might be a problem in FDM but apart from that they look good

Right, but for this i made the ships without masts/sails, so people can add it manual with thin sticks and paper sails or similar things.
And still a theoretical picture, how such a viking siege could looks like

Bernd, you should organise a small "beermat-diorama-competetion" through all epochs, maybe this would push the Microscale a little bit Look at my example template. Ground base diameter = 10cm

Those viking long ships look incredible printed out. Tall ships looking good, too.
Bayernkini- that's a great idea, lol.
I gave Diroamawelt a shout-out on the Facebook group earlier today while announcing my own web store. You're definitely putting out a great looking product.

Hello Gentlemen A fantastic idea for an interesting era. I think with some linear supports it would be good to print with an FDM, too. If the minitaurs are available anywhere, please let us know immediately. I am in! Regards Marco

Final the test units are here and painted.
I must say, the printed resin models are really sturdy in comparison of the small mast and large sail or the thin oars.
I am not the expert painter as some others here, but this examples should only show, how it could looks like. I paintet different "clothes" of the vikings, but i think, its better to paint instead only one cloth color and
colors only for the shields, helmets (and maybe faces).
I will upload the files now to the "lab" section. As i said, with resin prints they are excellent. I think, "Laser-Sinter" could also word (and cheaper), if you accept the disandvantage of the rough surface. Can“t say any about FDM prints.
My intention is still to push the microscale here in Germany,
because here this scale is still proscribed.
If someone have ideas (there are also much better STL desginger than me), contact me. The models are all done on Tinkercad, so its no problem to switch it into a "public" folder, so others may revise it.

Those are amazing, really well done. Have you tried using a 0.2mm nozzle on your fdm printer. It takes a while to get the settings just right but when you do the results are really good for fdm ![]() . These are bigger than 2mm at 2.4mm and although the 0.2mm fdm nozzle still isnt as good as resin it is passable i think. cheers and nice work once again

Revised the vikings painting. Now all cloth are unified dark-grey and the heads are with or without helmets. I think, this looks better for dismal vikings.
