Hey Zach......any thoughts on when we might see Austrians in the Heroic format?

Hi OSM- I have models for division and battalion mass already designed. In fact, I have them printed and painted up as samples already. These were very tricky to get right. I had to hunt around for period Austrian diagrams of the formations. I need to post them up for comment in different venues to get some second opinions. I'll try to do that today actually. I'm still not clear where the standard of a battalion went in a division mass or battalion mass. The company formations should be easier to get done. The Austrians had a different company footprint from most other armies. I'll probably do them in half-companies, given how large the companies were. Actually, here's a picture:

Hey Zach those look nice. According to the book, Armies on the Danube 1809, the standard in Closed Masse was in the right upper corner of the formation next to the 1st Company.

Interesting. Thanks for that information. Is the the battalion masse or the division masse? I have seen a diagram that seems to show the standard to the right side of the center division of the division masse, sort of in the middle. But actually outside of the formation. It seems like it would be easy enough for them to enter one of the spaces between the ranks if necessary.

I was reading the mentioned book just the other day and it indicated that division masse was not a favored formation. Most used company masse. Not sure how accurate that might be.
