The advantage of microscale units is beside the "mass" style, is also the possibiltiy to do some "diorama/action" bases. I did this already with my 2 ACW armies (with IM miniatures). But with fix preset miniature stripes, some style can looks a little bit unnatural (battle lines can´t follow exact the alignment of fences, roads e.g.).

With the knowlede of 3D printing and simple designing on Tinkercad, i would do it now with more appropriate unit bases. For example two ART bases (60x30mm), how it could looks like.
Printing in SLA would be the best result, but this could be a little bit expensive. I did a very good experience with "Laser-Sintering" prints (the following example unit bases would cost 1,30 €).
All my Borodino units are printed in this variant. The only disadvantage of SLS is the rough surface, which "swallowed" a lot of color if you paint the units and the color is less contrasty.
I will create a few AoF bases with all troop types, to see, how it could looks like. Then i hope i don´t sell my current AoF armies and do all again with new units
