Hi all
A friend suggested this would be a good project following my Napoleonic project. The idea of simple uniforms is appealing but its a period I know nothing about.
What suggestion for rules for 2mm do you have? Assuming a base is a brigade (if that's a good scale for the period), how big would the battles be?

My favorite is "Altar of Freedom". Did it already in 2mm. A base i a brigade there. I used still the original bases sizes and measuring of the game (it´s general for 6mm), but with 2mm miniatures to have more mass look and still some square for "diorama" bases.
The scenarios size is between 25-40 bases (complete for both sides) for smaller battles, 40-70 bases for medium battles and more for large battles. The three largest scenarios, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg uses 120 - 140 bases e.g.

If you are familiar with the 'Blucher' set of rules by Sam Mustafa, here is an adaptation of them for ACW. The group has further provided OB and scenario information at the brigade level for gaming the Battles of Antietam and Gettysburg . oldmeldrumwargamesgroup.com/blucher-acw-scenarios/I'm currently working on doing Antietam, but using a variant of 'Blucher' converted to hexes. www.hexesandminiatures.com/acw-hexes-a-blucher-variant'Altar of Freedom' is also a good set of rules. Alas, I get my 2mms made at the local library and the place is shut down due to Covid. The troops are just sitting there, waiting to be painted. The Antietam table - my first ever miniatures effort - lays empty! Gnarr. The work-around of using cardboard units is uninspiring.

Thanks, I'm not familiar with Blucher but Altar of Freedom seems to tick all the boxes. There are also some great threads here already on ACW so it has been very good inspiration.
I've also decided to upscale by 50% to 3mm! Mostly because some friends have 1/600th Ironclads, so anything I do will fit well with those.
I've printed a few samples and I have mucked around with the sizing, and I am using the Dangercat series upscaled to 140% (150% seemed too big). I also printed some of Robs ACW figures (ragged skimishers) and they came out much hefter than the dangercat series.
Also in an effort to conserve filament and am printing thinner bases. I've moved the models down 0.5mm on the build plate (so that means is the first 0.5mm of the base wont be printed).

6mmfan - Just checked out your webpage. Nice site!
I saw a lot of mention of 'Fast Play Grand Armee rules'. The 'Blucher' rules are the next evolution of FPGA by the same author, Sam Mustafa.
They do a lot of 6mm. Greg Wagman, a very nice (and smart) guy, wrote the Altar of Freedom rules.
The group has filmed the battles of Antietam and Gettysburg using 6mms and done some very nice terrain-making videos as well.
Their "free stuff" section has scenario information that might be helpful for your ACW project.
They are a first-class group of folks.
Good luck with your project and keep us posted on progress!
