I dont know, if you know the Command&Colors "Battlecry" rules, but the number of cards in hand (and maybe the numbers of cards, which every player may play per turn) can vary from scenario and also from each side. So in my Champion Hill example, the exact number of cards can determined only after i have all units and setup ready and played test games.
Look at my "Antietam Cornfield" scenario, which i did for Battlecry, this example show you, that the scenario rules can decide, not only the number of cards in hand. And also this scenario was tested at least 10 times, before i determined the final rules.
The general first tests works well. Maybe i will still adjust some movement and battle distances, but the game with the cards works good.
But the general thoughts are. Small scenarios (like Champion Hill here): Players get 7-8 cards and may play up to 2 cards Middle scenarios: 9-10 cards and 3 cards may be played per turn. Large scenarios: 11-12 cards and up to 4 cards may be played.
But as i said, each scenario (designer) should determine all this things, dependent from the scenario circumstances. So its also possible, that one player looses command cards, if the opponent occupy some special scenario objective places (support lines e.g.).
Therefore i love the simple BC rules, so you (scenario designers) may add easy special scenario rules.

In between i going on here also, and 2 CS divisions are ready, plus the Wagon train and Reynold´s Brigade on the March (march column / limbered). Here the compact view
And again a comparison of Reynold´s brigade in different variants. In the middle the "Altar of Freedom" variant, means one brigade base and one base with supply train. Left Reynolds brigade in (battle) line and
right the brigade in march column / limbered plus the supply train also with single stripes.

Next huge step in this project, the complete CS army for "Champion Hill" is ready. Therefore a (start-) setup with the Rebels and the first two Yankee divisions (north near Champion Hill).
In comparison here the setup with "brigade" bases with the "Altar of Freedom" rules
And the same with my "1:1" variant
I will use those setup immediately, to play/test my rules again. So some "battle" pics and notes following later.
For now still a few another pics with the current setup
Reynold´s brigade, which guards the CS supply train in the rear. Therfore i used for the picture the brigade in "column" bases (instead of the battle line bases).
Lorings divsion in the south
Bowen´s divison and Adam´s cavalry in center
Stevenson´s division north (at Champion Hill)
and Lee´s brigade with the opening contact with the Yankees

After more testing, the rules worked well are done nearly to the final version (maybe some minor changes can happen). Changed amongst others some distances and the number of battle dice of each unit.
Therefore here the uploads of the simply Battlecry variant rules. You may peek my bad english and therfore any bad grammar and other mistakes in the rules, but feel free, to fix it into correct english.

This is the kind of map that brought me to 2mm in the first place. Even 6mm cannot seem to get to this level.
