LinkWhat are people's opinions on this printer? looks ok but its not a full color printer you can only print using the colors you put into the printer and you still have to print wipe tower so that it cleans the filament you can see it in this video notice that even though 90% of the model is blue it has to print the wipe tower because of the color change for the nose and eyes www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=31&v=d8n6oc5PhtQ&feature=emb_logo

Wow, that tower is wasteful. Then again, my figures are very tiny. The full-range color models are much more expensive though. If I could just get a green base, a brown horse, and a blue/green/red/white rider, I'd be happy.

Hi Zach, I remember around a year or 2 ago. there was some discussion of a triple headed upgrade for FDM printers that involved a single nozzle which had 3 filament infeeds to it, so you could mix the colours inside the nozzle. Can't remember the name of it, but it had "diamond" somewhere in the name. The printer software had to be modified for the mixing of colours, and that was a work in progress, although the printer head and nozzle was available to buy. I guess you'd still need a purge tower to clear the nozzle so the correct colour was coming out, but it was an interesting alternative to 2 or 3 nozzle setup for multi colour printing, and by mixing the different filaments inside the nozzle, you had a much greater range of colours available. I'll have to do a google search, see if I can find it, see what has happened since I last read about it. Biker500

That looks very interesting, similar concept to the Diamond head, but with 4 colours, rather than 3. I imagine that buying a ready made solution like that, the colour management part of it is more mature, and more or less ready to use. Obviously a bit more expensive, but still very reasonable price, and more of the design/setup work is already done for you. Biker500

A printer like that for under $500 is a game-changer. But hte only links to the Crane I can find are for $750-$1000, so maybe they couldn't hit their target price point?

Since I hate painting, I'm thinking about buying an inexpensive (under $500.00) color printer for my FMS 2mm/3mm STL files.
The intent would to print ACW, Napoleonic and AWI units having: - blue/red/gray tunics and white pants;
- brown horses;
- and brown/dark green bases.
Appreciate any thoughts, experiences or input, preferably with printer model names and specifics.
Thanks.
