Hi all,
Two things that I always wanted to put into the range were (1) a cathedral, and (2) a palace. The cathedral has been in the Library for a few months, and the basic design for the palace has been on the workbench for almost as long. As it turns out, a palace is a much larger undertaking than a cathedral, so it kept getting pushed to the back burner. Anyways, I finally startedprocrastinating at my schoolwork working on it in earnest a few days ago. Now, it's finished! Here's a link to it on the blog:

The model is out at treatstock.com, and should be done in a day or two. They're doing it in FDM for only $16, which is a steal. Interestingly, they have an SLS printer offering to do it for only $27. Shapeways wanted $155.00 (!!!!) to print it; so not an option. But $27.00 is reasonable.... and intriguing, as that's the cheapest I've seen SLS go for. I'll be investigating that later and will report back on here. I recommend you check out treatstock as an option to 3DHubs. It seems to function like the old 3DHubs, but even cheaper. Plus, it seems like FDM is getting better by the month. I'm excited to see how this (FDM) palace prints up!
I'm also printing up the big bridge with houses on it, and a corrected version of the chateau. The chateau was waaay too tall, so I chop it up and reduced the height significantly. The roof of the chateau was almost equal with the cathedral; no good! The corrected version has already been uploaded to the Library, so if you're reading this don't worry about getting it mixed up.
